HID has developed a multifacted teaching unit focusing on the Louisiana Purchase and its historical impact on the great state of Louisiana. Our students live in a history and culture-rich state. This project will help the students understand how and why their community developed. They will research the everyday lives of people of the late 1700's/early 1800's and explore the culture and hertiage of their state. They will use their research to portray Shreveport-Bossier inhabitants and journalists of the era culminate their experience with a class fair celebrating life during the Lousiana Purchase. Students will participate in fun, creative acitivities to further internalize information taught in core subjects. This unit is porvided as supplemental material for teachers in order to enhance instruction and boost standardized test scores.
